Video - Trip to the track
Here is a video of my Studebaker and my friend Greg and Chris' LS7 68 Camaro running up at Fernley Raceway Nevada during Hot August Nights. As mentioned in the Street Tires at the track thread, This is a a fun little drag strip about 35 miles East of Reno. It is actually the straight away of a road course with a concrete launch pad. It's real basic, no scoreboards or announcer. Just a place to go run your car. Everything is heads up. You can see in the video that the track visibly runs up hill. It is also at 4400 feet elevation. I figured out how to get launched pretty well. You can see my buddy was having a little tougher time of it with over 500 hp and manual trans! You can hear him pedal it in second gear, that's why I was able to stay ahead for a while before he passed me. On this pass my car actually popped out of high gear due to a less that optimal shifter, but he was going to pass me anyway. My best run was a 14.69 @ 93 mph and his was a 13.78 @ 112. You can tell from the mph that traction was a real limiting factor for Chris.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
Visited a family member at Dockery Ford from the time I was 1 year old through their ownership and then ownership change to Morristown Ford. Dockery was a major player in the Hi Performance...
How did you get hooked on cars?
