I used to drive my 57 Chevy pick up to the strip and home until I snapped my cluster gear and was stranded for a few hours on my way home, so I do drive my cars to the track. But now I always remember my cell phone.
If it won't go, force it... If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway

Yeah, I drive my beater daily, in the rain, in the snow, and to the track. Even after I have snapped an axle, I was able to replace it and drive it home that day. I have since replaced them with better axles.

I love driving to the track, run a 10 second blast on all season radials, get kicked off the track, then ready myself for the drive home, and watch the 11 and 12 second guys put their rides back on their trailers along with their monster slicks! I can not imagine having a 12 second car and only running it 5 miles a year!

Someday, I hope to run at a track that will allow a wet run. With the wipers on fast, I bet I would still pull off a 11 second run.

i went to the track last year with my drag car ( 1972 elcamino ,tube chassis, 540 shaffirof motor ) and broke . so i unhooked the tow truck 02 ford f250 4x4 diesel 6.0l with a few mods and was having more fun with it than the race car . it went 14.24 at 91 mph loaded with tools , jack and spare .
yes i drove ,the trailer didnot drive it's self

Hahahah, I bet! When I used to run 13's I had way more fun consistently. Everyone wanted ot race me, whether at the track, or on the street.

Hey, there are a couple of guys running 11's and 12's with their Dodge diesels up here. Tons of boost, plus nitrous to help them get things rolllin. What a blast! Imagine them pulling up next to a muscle car, and blowing their doors off!

Ha ha ha, yep, you do not want to sit down wind from those puppies. Last year one evening we had night drags, and this diesel didn't have slicks with him, and he usually runs 12's, so anyways, he couldn't hook up, so half way down the track, he still keeps getting into and then off again, of the petal. His two stacks were shooting fire a foot high!

i race a ton up here in the northwest. don't have the money for a trailer, ran about 30 or so races last year and drove to EVERY ONE.

man i raced one of those diesels, although not quite that fast. couldn't hardly see the tree with all the diesel. sure was surprised to see that thing so far in front of me at the finish line.

Used to pull a camper to rod run. Unhook and go to the track. A few of us used to run at an 1/8mile track (Only track around) back in the 70's. We followed each other to and from, so we had backup in case something broke, nothin' ever did. Best 1/8 mile time was 8:48 back then.

There is one of those Diesels hooking it up. If I were a track owner I would run his ass off for dirtying up my track and other peoples cars.
