The city of Concord wouldn't approve the track until Bruton threatened to bulldoze the Lowes speedway and move it elsewhere. Funny how they got religion on that issue.. I'm sure it's spectacular because that's how he does everything. He will also make sure the spectators leave plenty of their money with him.

Did you see on the NHRA broadcast yesterday, Tony Shumacker and Troy Coughlin made a pass in Micheal Waltrips cup car ? Tony ran a 10,60 and troy ran a 10.300, then Micheal got past the 1/8th mile and spun the car out and hit the wall. 1st crash at the new drag strip and it was in a cup car !
Live everyday like it were your last, someday it will be.

When Mopar was boycoting the nascar rule changes in the mid sixtys the Pettys went drag racing. The pettys wanted to race and nascar ruled the Cammer Ford and the Mopar Hemi out, May be Ford should have stayed home that year and the sohc may have been allowed back into the mix . Nascar's excuse was there lots of Chevy guys that want to see a winning car and the Rat engine couldn't cut it with out help.

Looks like another excellent reason to visit the lovely Charlotte area. Always enjoy Goodguys Charlotte, now I got another reason to travel there.
On another note, a property owner near where I live in Pennsyltucky is trying to get approveal from zoning to build a new dragstrip. Right now there's a war of words going on between the owner and his lawyers and the neighbors.
Damn I hope he prevails.Bob
