Flamin' Frank Pedregon was a fixture at San Fernando when we ran there in the '60s, though this pic is from Lions I think.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

I had the opportunity to meet the "Cruzer" at Eldora and then at Englishtown. Truly a class guy who took plenty of time visiting with my wife and I. Seemed genuinely sincere and more than happy to talk racing.....whether it be 1/4 mile asphalt or 1/2 mile dirt........Ya know, for a straight line guy, he is really starting to get the hang of turning left....drifting thru the corners in his dirt track Late Model! He raced at Susquehanna Speedway in Pa as a prep, the week before Eldora and really did a great job!!
Overall though, an exciting finish ot a terrific NHRA year. I thought ESPN did a great job reminding everyone one final time of the tragic losses of John and James Herbert and of course, Scott Kalitta.
Can someone start a "Days left until Pomona" countdown??!!....because I cant wait!!

One of the reasons that ford is not a factor in Pro stock is because, they were going to build a new engine to be used by John Force AA/FC and also for Pro Stock. NHRA told them that the new engine would give the Force teams to much advantage so it would not be allowed for the top eliminator classes . The GM engines are no resemblance to a stock engine ,If ford builds a custom engine it should be allowed' You will never see NHRA go back to Small blocks because they know the Fords would dominate again like Glidden did that is why they came out with a 500 ci rule in the first place.Last edited by 417strokers; 11-17-2008 at 02:27 AM.

YES!! Erica Enders full time in Jim Cunningham's Mustang for 2009!! With techincal support from Ford along with a new Mustang aero package! They certainly have their work cut out for them, but at least it sounds as if Ford is making a consolodated and qualified effort in Pro Stock to again someday be competitive.

I have to wonder how much Ford or GM or Chrysler will be sponsoring given current events going on in Washington.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Well Pat, Friday the Johnson's (Warren & Kurt) got the word there'd be no new contracts for '09 season. They're not talking to anyone in the press right now so we'll have to wait and see how they recover. Also, KB Racing (Anderson & Line) had their GM support pulled, though they still have the Summit deal I believe. And McClanathan had some GMC sponsorship that also went away.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I think it's going to make for a very interesting '09 Pro Stock season if the manufacturer's go back to "back door" support... Might see a few new names in Pro Stock when some of the Divisional cars become more competitive because of the lack of unlimited resources that a few select teams have!!! Be good to see WJ and the gang out scrambling for sponsorship $$$$$ like us mere mortals have to do!!!!! Maybe some of the new Ford parts suddenly showing up is more then just a coincidence?????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

They've got their own class, even though I don't like the cars I gotta say it's some very competive racing!!!!!!
Pro Stock has always been the domain for the Best of the Best in gear bangin' door slammers.... Eventually one of them there foreign car companies will build a 500 inch engine to compete with.....Well, bring em on!!!! Nothing like a bit of competition to improve the class!!!! Unless Pro Stock would one day change to allow an EFI induction system run, I would doubt it will happen.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
