Well, say what you want about Pinks All-Out. Every indication I have seen is it is drawing big fields every where they go, 350-500 cars. Crowds have been big too. They are making some fun TV with the shows and the Pinks All Out Takes. Gives a lot of average Joe and Joleen racers a chance at exposure and probably the biggest purse they ever raced for in front of the biggest crowd. And I think the entry is less than $50. Kinda like buying a racers lotto ticket to get into the 32 or 16 grouping, but the racing I have seen has been great. And every type of car you can think of shows up to race too. Plus they throw in some match race funny cars, jet cars or wheel standers to add excitement to the show. They also have the Quick 8 for the fastest cars to show up. Last show I saw, the winner of that was running low 7s at 190!
I think they have hit on a winning combination, way better than the original Pinks. Count me as a fan.

I will always long for the "golden Age" ....the period up to the mid seventies .... and nothing else will be as good in my mind. The popularity of nostalgia racing and organizations means that I am not alone.
I have a good friend who is involved in altereds in the Northwest and Canada, so I get lots of pictures from the Hot Rod Reunion and other events there. He is currently a hired driver for a restored car, and is building a car of his own for the various altered events in the west. You can have an exciting calendar of nostalgia races, if you will travel, but we won't see them on TV. :-(
I am so disappointed with the differences in modern racing. I think they would be better advised to resort to the things that made that period so great, than to lower themselves to "reality" themes. How about some hyped matchraces? ....or throw a specialty class, like slingshot fuelers, fuel altereds, supercharged gassers, altered wheelbase funnycars, or other "classics" into the national event schedule? They could do one specialty class at about 6 events a year, in differing parts of the country, then next year switch them around. The closest thing to what I am talking about is the Hemi Shootout at the Nationals. Of course these event-within-an-event changes would either be included in event TV coverage, or broadcast as a separate TV program. I believe that would bring a lot of lost souls back into the stands.Last edited by HOTRODPAINT; 09-21-2009 at 02:04 PM.

1/8 mile is even worse then 1000'
no thanks
But I agree with what most say....it is all about the money. That is why I got out of the drag racing game 10 years ago. Still love it and I miss it....but foolish money even to run SG and basically you only cold work 3 days a week in the summer.
Family changes all of that quick
Thank you Roger. .
