I will always long for the "golden Age" ....the period up to the mid seventies .... and nothing else will be as good in my mind. The popularity of nostalgia racing and organizations means that I am not alone.

I have a good friend who is involved in altereds in the Northwest and Canada, so I get lots of pictures from the Hot Rod Reunion and other events there. He is currently a hired driver for a restored car, and is building a car of his own for the various altered events in the west. You can have an exciting calendar of nostalgia races, if you will travel, but we won't see them on TV. :-(

I am so disappointed with the differences in modern racing. I think they would be better advised to resort to the things that made that period so great, than to lower themselves to "reality" themes. How about some hyped matchraces? ....or throw a specialty class, like slingshot fuelers, fuel altereds, supercharged gassers, altered wheelbase funnycars, or other "classics" into the national event schedule? They could do one specialty class at about 6 events a year, in differing parts of the country, then next year switch them around. The closest thing to what I am talking about is the Hemi Shootout at the Nationals. Of course these event-within-an-event changes would either be included in event TV coverage, or broadcast as a separate TV program. I believe that would bring a lot of lost souls back into the stands.
