FED in the works
Thought I'd share the newest project with you all. It is a 160" nostalgia front engine dragster. 377ci injected SBC, glide. I have the chassis done and am doing the sheetmetal now. Hope to have it ready for the midwest nostalgia circuit next spring.

I am looking forward to it. It has been many years since I was brave enough to have my manhood strattling a hand grenade.I am sure my son will be doing most of the piloting, that still makes it more important that I beef up the shielding even more. We have all taken chances in our lives that we would not want our children to take. I had some thoughts of taking the blown 54 out of the Willys for it but decided that a small block might cause less carnage.
All in all I think it will be fun again.

PS Anybody got a line on a set of good used front wire wheels for Anglia spindles?

Very cool looking project!! The 377 should work out just fine BTW. I have one in a Fiero with alum heads and a carb. it's plenty fast enough to scare the crap out of me.
Glad there are so many 383s out there, as that leaves a lot more of the "good" parts for us 377 guys

How far out is the engine???

Jerry,
Sorry not to get back sooner but I was refreshingly computer free for several days.
The engine is actually 28" from coupler a to bellhousing, to accomodate a standard 27" glide.
I would have moved it closer and used a shorty glide but the change over cost for my existing trans was more than I wanted to spend for right now. I can always move the motor plates back another 8" or so if I feel the need.
I realize that using the glide instead of a clutch can it is not truely a nostalgia car but ...
I also used Mark Williams 200" chassis blueprints cut down to 160".
There was much discussion on whether to build an authentic 60's chassis. I contacted a couple of chassis companies about buying prints but they were reluctant to sell them, as they naturally wanted to sell there chassis instead.
I was also reluctant to do anything that might not pass 2010 specs. Good ole NHRA, they are smothering us with all the prerequisite safety requirements. It cost a small fortune just to get all of the entry level SFI equipment.

I love FED's. Looks like yours is going to be a fun ride when done. As for the wheels, they show up on Ebay from time to time. Here are some on there now. Not exactly what you are looking for maybe, but they do show up.

Awesome project man, I am currently looking for a roller myself after going to the hot rod reunion. Couldn't believe how fast the injected small blocks can go in an FED. Keep us updated.
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
How did you get hooked on cars?
