4-wide racing brings buzz to NHRA

I hope if nothing else, a few more people will want to watch just for something different.

Few will remember, but one of the Chicago area tracks...I think Rockford...did 4 way match races in the '60s.
I'm not sure I want the sport to get too far away from a "one-on-one" confrontation between teams. I probably would like to see it one time, just to experience the sound of four fuel motors at once! ....or maybe a four-way pedal fest might be fun!

How are they gonna do elimination ladders for this? Will there only be 4 cars left after the first round? Or will they be running 4 at a time and still be in pairings? I watched the exhibition run last year and it was amazing.
Asked and answered, here is what NHRA site says about the ladders

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Maybe Bruton Smith will install ramps at the end of each lane and we can see if the cars can jump 28 burning schoolbuses ........... or jump just ten buses but end with a t-bone crash into a pink Hummer
......... and people wonder why the fans are flocking to Nostalgia racing and NHRA attendance is down

Just watched some of the qualifying, it was good!!! Track is really fast! Eliminations should be good tomorrow. Race 4 cars, top 2 to the next round, then 4 cars in the finals!!! Definitely be different with only going 3 rounds instead of 4.. From the interviews, drivers seemed to be having fun, too.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I shut it off.
Too hard to identify the cars from so far away, and looking at the tops of the cars...see who left first....who was that who spun the tires?... who was that who broke?...who won? 4 seconds is not enough time to take in, and understand, what just happened.
I think what I miss the most was the drama between two racers when it is one-on-one.

I watched it for 30 - 40 minutes. I just couldn't get into it. I felt "disconnected" from it and just don't expect the racing rounds to be any better. To much goes on in such a short time frame, just left me cold. I would like to see it live one time tho'.. The sounds must be awesome!
When the funny car bodies were blowing off in that one round, that must've been a hair raiser for sure!

It certainly was different! I can't decide whether I'll continue to enjoy it. Too much action too quickly. Hoss said it all with they don't have enough to fill in all the time they have...CRI thought I knew a lot, until I had teenagers!

I went Saturday for qualifying, was hard to keep track of the fuel cars. I prefer one on one, but this was something a little different. Was interesting, but I probably won't go again. The noise was awesome! Never felt 4 fuelers go by at once! Sound waves were intense!
