The Blown Fever boat, #512 with the designation TFJ, is the only Top Fuel Jet flatbottom I have ever seen. Most Top Fuel boats are prop driven and hydroplane construction.Last edited by techinspector1; 11-06-2010 at 03:02 PM.

I haven't talked with him lately, but Tucson's leading dragboat racer would be Dave Sharp. Did you see him by any chance? He would be in Top Alcohol with a new boat... or his "Captain Chaos" Pro Gas Flat.
Oops! I see now this was not the last event. {:-)Last edited by HOTRODPAINT; 11-06-2010 at 03:22 PM.

last two photos, roostertails....
By the way, the nitromethane boats (Top Fuel) use two magnetos and two fuel pumps. The alcohol boats (Top Alcohol Hydro, Top Alcohol Flatbottom, Pro Mod) use one mag and one pump.

Thanks for the pics, Richard! Some really great looking rigs, but I believe I'll stick to four wheels!!!
Oh yeah, the Mean Streak II boat. I noticed it was piloted by Mike Fry---would you possibly now if that is Bob Fry's (lived in Chandler about 10 years ago) son????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
Carroll Shelby
Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!

I've been a drag race fan since '62... but the boats scare me more! When things go wrong, they can go really wrong!!!
I do like the fact that the pits are almost like a car show! Much flashier than the over commercialized cars.
The boats also seem more exotic. A "spaceship-looking" vehicle... going down track flying on a cushion of air... and the only thing controlling them is a prop and three blades in the water!
I was so impressed by them, that when I got back into model cars about 15 years ago, I scratchbuilt a hydro kit from blueprints, then gave it to a friend to produce for the market. Here are a couple pics...
(Yes they are models.) :-)~Last edited by HOTRODPAINT; 11-06-2010 at 08:15 PM.
