a little more info would help--what type motor , what company piston---
It will take removal of a lot of aluminum for 14 gr--if you could lighten the small end of the rod (iron) it won't take so much mass. maybe can be done with a lighter wrist pin also

i do not drill.. mill or lathe like jerry said piston pins . pin end on the rods if a h beam or I fully machined rod. your going to cut alot to get 14 grams where most times there not much more then 5 grams to play with .on the piston s you can do a window in the skirt and out side by the pin go in the pistons bottoms. buying pistons that are lighter would be cheaper in the long run .i use a BHJ piston vise to hold the pistons on the mill.i have re work pistons but there better ways to spend a days time . if your trying to get to part #271063 that s 383 grams yours is 407 grams the pro series forging is not the same. you will play hell getting yours that lite+$$ and still have some thing that will hold up if you try re working the piston look at some pins you can take some off the pin end of the rod .lite pin . alot of screwing around when 271063 will do it as a drop inLast edited by pat mccarthy; 03-18-2011 at 06:56 PM.
