yeah, it sucks for sure. Many moons ago they shut down the 1/8 mile track in Sioux Falls.... Wasn't that great a track, but it sure was a fun place to go play on Saturday nights!!!!!!

Sorry to hear this news GW. It seems if the politicians have their way around here we all will live in densely packed communities, continuously growing into the next town, surrounded by big box stores and new developments. In return we will have less police per capita, more crime and congestion, oh and they want to remove our Fair grounds and race track too! Who are these people anyway? Must be Washington D.C. want -to -bes! Some of the very things that made this town a place to live are now being ripped apart in the name of much needed revenue and progress!

Thanks everybody. I'm still in shock. Mrs GW is still trying to cheer me up too. What a great wife, I wish I had two of her.
I'd say they need to tear down the golf courses around here and make them into parks. Wouldn't take much taxpayer money. Besides, golf offends my sensitivities and have you seen those excessively loud clothes? And parks are a wonderful way for our upcoming youth to sell and buy their drugs.

Well, I'm not giving up. Mrs GW says we can go to Topukya, Grab a few drags there and stay the night in a motel and frollick and have fun.

She's still trying to cheer me up.

Lancaster Speedway has for yrs been a circle track that uses apart of the drag race when they run that program.
On Friday when they run drag races it is a tough track. You better have a .15 light or better if you expect to be a winner. Many come there for test and tune and to hone their skills.Threw the yrs that track has exported many, many, national winners. It is like a mini national event every Fri. in every class. For you to get involved in your area a situation like that might work out to be a great training ground.

GW, Topeka Heartland Park is still very much active. Another is MoKan in Pitsburg, KS which is about 1.5hrs south Smokin' Mo-Kan Dragway - mokandragway.com Yes, it's sad for KCIR to close, but they've been under attack for 20 years or more, and the city finally found a way to win...

    Hiya,

I'm going through all the links and places provided here. Thanks all. Before i'm through, we'll have some new places to go I hope. Then I can continue on prepping the car. MoKan dragway looks like a good place to try. I'm probably gonna try as many as we can afford although it may only be once a month now. But at least we can still race. I'm just still bummed about it. Mrs GW bought me three Hot Wheels cars trying to get me out of my funk. I must say it did help.

Yeah, Heartland Park may be OK although it's 60 miles away. But then again, so is everything else.

You'll find MoKan Dragway near Pittsburg (actually Asbury, KS) to be more like KCIR than the track at Heartland Park. Heartland hosts the NHRA Summer Nationals in May, and is a higher dollar venue. They also have a Street Legal Event Calendar, and set Street Legal/Test & Tune dates, but they're not the small, run-what-ya'-brung place like KCIR was with their grudge nights, etc. MoKan's got a longer history than KCIR, as I recall - I first went to the Sunday drags there in about '65, and they'd been around a long time then.

Gimme a break! For me to go to the drags, I've got 1 track in New Hampshire, 3.5 hours north! Or, "pop" over to eastern New York, 4.5 hours west!! Or, if I wanna go play with the big boys... Then we need to run down to New Jersey, 5 : 6 hours So,west of here.. And I used to do it in my dual purpose car too! Was a B_tch with 4:56's

Drag racers overcome all kinds of adversity. We have beat the best and the best well funded. We never believe we can't win any race. This Jewish old boy believes things happen because God has a better plan than I did.Consider this change a blessing.

I'll sure try Gary and you are right. We been skipping 2 meals a day for change to race but with the longer distances, we may have to go without personal hygiene as well. But racing itself is a miracle. It's been something I wanted to do all my life. Last year it happened.

Well, I think we're sold on MoKan Dragway.(Thanks Rspears) I visited their website and it looks more our speed. So, that can be the first place we visit. If that works well we can shoot over to eastern New Hampshire with 3.75 gears

Well hurry up and get over here! I prefer hamburgers to hot dogs nowadays, and I'll sneek in the beer too!

Ha, I like hamburgers too! and Guinness if it's available.

Off the subject a bit, I want to put in the front brake lock but find that the one brake line goes into the combination valve and two lines go out for each of the front brakes. Can I tap in between the master cylinder and the combination valve? I only got one inlet on the line lock. It does have 3 outlets though.

Use the single line to tap into for both front brakes.
