That Erica is on a hot streak.
And all those nay sayers when she dropped out a few years ago (She washed up they said). She's got a real good chance at a championship. Once the countdown starts anything can happen. She's been treeing some heavy hitters lately & she's got the horsepower now too."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.
"LIVE" your life like you could die tomorrow.

At first I was bummed that it washed out but then I find out they'll re-do qualifications so that makes me happy as it gives Larry Morgan and his Mustang another shot. He hadn't yet qualified when they closed qualifying after the 3rd round.
He's 10th in points so not qualifying was a killer.

Just got home---lots of rain off and on---good thing they called it off so they will have another day of qualifying as many top running cars aren'yt in that seeded 12 cars friday nite fi assco---------planning on going back next weekend--shot about 900 pics so far----camera will do 6.3 pics per second so can get 30 or so per run -----must have 200 of the guys head one row in front of me--------------
Open house at Pedregons shop was super, the tribute car is WOW super---I thought he would put a firebird body on one of there year old cars, but no--he had a replica make as period correct as he could but with wath ever updates needed to run in the Nostalgic races-----
NHRA owns IRP and they really need to do something about the water run off/non run off puddling in the pits---all the super stockers were stuck in the mud and couldn't get out this morning as well as several other examples over on the sportsman side of the track--the pro pits(paved for all the semis----water standing everywhere, had a couple pumps going in one area but pretty much ineffective---kinda like peeing in the ocean to raise the tide!!!!!!at least they kept the wind to there backs!!!!!!!
I got lots of pics playing with my camera and will be uploading several just as a exercise trying to get better at the computer thing---problem is while taking pics you can't spot the wheel hop/tire shake, etc and I am sorta confused on wether I want to watch the race or take pictures--

1915 Cutoff
1910TSpeedster2.JPG1910TSpeedster.JPGThis is for Dave and Bob,who are branded with FORD. Are you upset with moving the acceptance date for the NSRA events past 1948? Are you a die hard FORD enthusiast? Did you always want a RED FORD roadster (Speedster) that would attract young women and kids? Then you should have been in Ashland Va this week where there was a national meet of 1915 and earlier cars with over 40 running/driveable cars in evidence. There were a number of (very) early Ford T cars along with a REO and a Buick (pre-1915) running around town. I snapped a few pictures but these antique stockers did not really interest me until two young women rode up to a local strip mall in Ashland (the self-professed "Center of the Universe") driving a 1910 Ford T Speedster with only an oval windshield on the drivers side and no windshield on the passenger side. The "girls" are Janice and Natalie Weaver from Pinetops N.C. who have helped their Dad Johnny Weaver throughout their lives repairing and building three Model T cars, one of which is the neat 1910 T Speedster shown here, perhaps described as a GOW car? They started out restoring a 1923 Studebaker but the 1915 curtoff limited them to the speedster and a Touring T for this meet. I had no idea these cars were still streetable with most of them over 100 years old but they spent a week based here in Ashland Va traveling to local sites for a week and they were evident all over town. As I say only the 1910 speedster got my pulse racing and the others were just antiques for me but if you have an old T frame laying around with a viable title you too could build such a neat speedster! This kind of makes the old 1948 NSRA limit look "Modern"! That is my green 1998 Pontiac Sunfire parked at an angle in the second picture where I left it to snap the pictures. The girl in the passenger seat wore sunglasses as her only eye protection but i don't think they were traveling very fast.

Don,
This is an interesting post, and the pictures are great but they have nothing at all to do with the subject of the thread, which is the National Drags at Indianapolis. I would expect that you would generate some discussion specific to the Ashland event and the vintage racers if you simply started a thread with a related subject, like "Red Roadsters Attract the Girls", or whatever you might choose. Just saying I love your post, but hate seeing it in someone else's thread where it is going to be lost.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Roger----I got pics of a couple AMXs at Indy for you--------------going thru about 8-900 shots---gotta group and resize them before uploading---some for this thread, some for the tribute car (gotta make sure the pics with me in " em don't show too much stomach---seems I've gained a little waist---almost on a par with the size of the superchargers these days--------------

Just doing some reading on the Nats next weekend, sounds like someone doesn't think all the good runs are done for qualifying;
"You can look at it two ways," said Pro Stock season points leader Allen Johnson, who was the No. 3 qualifier through three rounds. "The weather (this weekend) could be a lot worse and (last weekend's) numbers stick and we're no worse off, or the weather might be perfect and give us the opportunity to get that pole position in qualifying.
"We'll focus on the positives."
My kind of racer!!!! It ain't over til the last round is run!!!! Go get 'em, Alan!!!! The competitive spirit is still alive and well in NHRA!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I did not-----I found a long time ago I was better judging a run watching a car instead of driving it----I am going to Bakersfield Reunion next month and Cruz is planning on running it in the Nostalgic races--it was built like the earlier cars with just the required chassis upgrages required--
took 867 pics and have downsized all of them to sizes I have uploaded here before but am having difficulties uploading them-----got lots of 6.3 pics per sec of night runs, header flames, wheels hangin"
Also have several of some old time gassers that were on display----
