For some reason, as racers get older the won to lost ratio seems to get higher!!!!

I think the flag "person" did. They didn't have to ride in one of those rattle traps!

What is it with the shift lever on the outside of the car, is that traditional like they use to built them? I would pluck that engine out and put it in something more traditional with a better frame under it. But I am fussy.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

They probably didn't have any room for the shifter and being it's so chopped and channel they tried something different. LOoks like hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I think the outside lever is a hand clutch ..... We ran them in the old circle track cars where we sat in the center of the car and straddled the transmission ... Of course it was inside the car !!

Not that the builder would care if he chose to build it like that, but with weight transfer being important for the launch, the slammed, channeled rod seems like it would be at a disadvantage with comparable power.

i think i have seen that rod on utube..its an automatic shifter on the outside...built that way just to be different..I'm building a 5 window coupe and to be different, Its a 31 Studebaker, 1969 Lincoln 460 (.030 over) erson lumpy cam, weiand stealth manifold, 2"dia headers and a holley750, 4spd top loader (shifter inside),its not only chopped 3" and channeled 4" but the bodywas widened 5" on a 34 Ford coupe frame. the doors came off a 29 ford coupe and after chopped to fit the roof chop,to get the door window height the same as the studes rear 1/4 windows, they were cut out of the doors chopped then rewelded back onto the doors. nobody cuts coupes in half then rewelds them back wider..then along comes me and says why not... i call it FrankenStude Too
