They are building an outlet mall adjacent to the track to the north....and the casino is there too. Land got too valuable with frontage on I-10, it was only a matter of time. They should move the place to the Southwest about 5 miles....worthless land, few or zero houses, limited potential for development.

Just a case of another racing facility losing out to the almighty dollar, nothing new there.......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

The land is on the Rez so it is a lease only deal for all those industrial places. No houses nearby because of the Rez. There is a drag strip, a boat drag strip, the road course (where the driving school runs) and I think a banked dirt oval. There are some Indy car teams sorting out cars in the spring on the road course....right next to I-10. Facility has an NHRA meet coming up soon.

I thought at first you were talking about Firebird near Boise. Are there more Firebirds around?

Maybe Tech can fill in some blanks here as I think thats where he was head of tech????
I seem to remember---back in those days this deal came about because Charlie had some deal worked out with a tribal upper member(may be where Firebird came from)---maybe not, that guy is gone(or the fire has went out) but the loss of the income to the arae that the race brings will hurt the local economy unless of course they divert there resources towards the illegal going ons in Arizona that the feds won't do anything about.
