Interesting start to the year.
Yep, glad Dixon and Worsham are back in cars............should be in better ones each.
Very glad Brown walked away from that one, it was ugly.
Average age of the three pro class winners............................25! Probably a message of some kind in that.
Still too many empty seats in the stands for an indication of health of the series. Wonder how many more years Coca Cola is going to keep carrying them.
Courtney is getting the ol' man's chatter/patter down just about perfectly. Some will love it, some hate it..................like that's a news flash.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

I also worry for the sport. I always thought the popularity was based on what is sold on dealership showrooms. If you drove a musclecar or ponycar, you dreamed of drag racing it to experience that power "full on"! That eventually put you on the starting line, or in the stands.
Now we see the streets inhabited by imports... and the emerging generation more interested in electronic devises. They may even prefer to compete in a drag race video game, to the real thing. Sad. {:-(

I'm wondering why Anton's car didn't break in two between engine and cage area----that has always been a part of design engineering--get driver cage separated from engine mass-------also, both rear tires came off at very start of that and I'm wondering if there's a problem there that they(goodyear/nhra) will cover up with the cause of the fire/explosion?
They seemed to have kept the chassis from returning to DSR ---------

I like watching comp eliminator and super stock and most all the lower classes. They are the grass roots of drag racing. Anymore the pro classes are dominated by who has the most money. DSR & Force win the most in F/C. In T/F, DSR has 3 cars. $$$$$$$$ drive the sport and how many #16 qualifiers make past 1st round.
Pro stock should also go the way NASCAR did and make the cars look like whats in the showroom. How many swoopy nose Camaros have you seen on the street?
Guess I'm just venting cause I have been an avid fan since 1963 when my dad took me to my first drag race at Maple Grove for my 13th birthday. Have been going to them every year since and have seen so many changes thru the years that have really made my interest fade. I still go to them and enjoy taking my grandson so we can smell the nitro and enjoy the day.

It is hard to believe A. Brown survived that crash but still an impressive test of "safety construction". Anybody have a slo-mo of what caused the event?
