i have scewed up !!!!!!!!!!!
well i went down to my dads farm to pick up my 455 motor for my t bucket. its in a 72 olds 88 and the car was parked outdoors for approx 4 years. i didnt prep the engine for storage when i parked it and now the engine was locked.
pulled the pugs filled with diesl fuel and was able to budge the motor a little bit after that approx 15 degrees but then solid
decided to put the plugs back in and filled the whole motor and pan full of diesl to the brim and will wait a couple of weeks and will see what happens.
how badly can cyl walls be damaged by freeing a storage locked motor would rings be seized in the pistons etc will the unit pump oil now.
anybody else have this kind if fun before.
i probably could have avoided this by glugging a gallon of diesl down the carb when i parked the darned thing in the first place.

Ur prolly wanna hone the cylenders, re ring the pistions and at least check the block for cracks and make shure the oil pump works ( Drill prime it with valve covers off, if oil comes up to the rockers, it works ). I'd say screw the smogger motor and get somthing '71 or pre '71, save the hastle of fixing/ paying for machine work on a screwed up motor. If it was somthing like a caddy 500 or 472, I'd say it'd be worth fixing but not just another olds 455 which was offered in most full size olds like a delta 88.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

well you know you must be a mind reader i am looking at a 75 caddy down the street i think it had a 472 in it. that runs good. what kind of power would one of these put out and i think in could use a olds 400 tranny behind it. i am going to offer 500.00 for the whole car and see if the guy jumps at as its been stored for a few years. ill make shure its turns over 1st.

I don't know if you guys read Hot Rod, but several years ago they took a full size Cad with a 500 and kept cutting parts off it until it was basically a bare frame with a cowl seat and dash, steering wheel, and finally ended up turning 10 second quarter mile times. It was hilarious reading the article.Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 12-29-2004 at 10:16 PM.

If you really wanted to go bucks up on a Caddy 500 Bulldog Performance www.bulldogperformance.net has just come out with aluminum heads with 260cc intake ports, 76cc chambers,2.19/1.84 valves and they flow 307 and 235 cfm on the intake and exhaust side, respectively. but man are they pricey ($1695 bare and $2145 assembled))Last edited by Oldf100fordman; 12-30-2004 at 02:28 PM.

well i offered my neghbor 500.00 for the car its a 73 eldorado with a 500 and looks like i got it . rebult approx 12 years and 30,000 mile ago runs good doesnt move oil .
now as far as i know a olds 400 tranny will bolt right up to this ( i got 3 now)
as the car is a fwd and the engine is going into a t bucket style frame all i have to figure out is engine mounts nothing the welder cant buzz up . the cars a pretty nice unit to strip down , ill get a good buck for the hulk though. looks like it will weigh a couple tons.
anyone know what kind of stock hp this engine puts out, i would guess 300 or 350 with gobs of torque.
i am going to have fun with this!!!!!!!!!
