    Unhappy 402 oil pressure problem

I have a 72 402 in myy camaro and I recently noticed that my rockers were noisy. I had no oil pressure. I took off the oil pressure line fitting and cranked the engine over a few times but had no oil come out of the block. Should I assume that my oil pump is fried? I need help. I am supposed to leave to Iraq sometime next Week.

at first it was a little low, but a qrt topped it off. This was before I took off the oil pressure line fitting.

I am not sure if it is broke or not. I am trying to test what I can before I have to pull the motor. I only have one week before I go over seas. Also before this problem I was having
oil coming up out of the top of the dipstick at high rpms.

Your motor is in serious need of help,,,sounds like you have got combustion getting past your rings,,and it's pressurising your crank case.
And yes it's a fair bet that your oil pump is not working.

Cool 402 oil pressure problem solved

I have fixed the oil pressure problem that I had in my 402. The oil pump bolt worked loose and therefore all the oil that was getting pumped was going right back into the oil pan. While I had the oil pan off, I replaced the pump with a good quality high volume/high pressure pump and now the engine runs better than ever.
