    Valve spring retainer woe's
    Ok here is my problem, I had a freind give me a set of cleveland 2 barrel heads that are very fresh, only had a couple of runs on them. He had chevy valves installed in them and the valve guides cut for a double springs and nylon seals. Now the valve stem or tip is almost level with the valve spring retainer. I'm afraid that the Lunati Rockers I have are going to hit the retainers thus releasing the locks and droping the valve. Now I know a few
    guys that have ground down thier Rockers but I don't want to do this, Can I buy a valve with a longer tip above the locks to fix this problem? Any one else had this problem?

    Check with the cam companies and get some -.050" locks. This will get the retainer down away from the tip. On a mild engine the extra .050 spring compression usually doesn't hurt.

    I'm not sure I fully understand your problem. But if you put some larger diameter springs there are some rockers that are clearenced for the bigger springs. Though if it's your roller tip your worried about hitting the valve keepers then that's another problem.
    You should also be able to buy a valve with a longer tip. Are you sure they have the correct spring retainers on the valves.

    I've got a Erson Cam TQ 50 kit. Lifters, cam, springs, retainers, and locks. Valves have to be changed any way, plus I'm gonna
    have screw in 3/8 rocker stud with guide plates installed at the same time. the Lift is a 545. The RPM range is 3200 to 6300.
    Just about binding problems since I've talked to several people
    that have had this problem with thier fords. And the roller on the rocker is small and the valve tip is almost flush with the valve spring retainer. And this is why I am woried about enough clearance.
