Since switching to synthetic, and adding this additive, it is like the engine got 20 years younger. Before switching from 'natural' oil, I ran a 'tune-up' chemical through the system that basically melted all of the old grease and nicotene caught in the system.
There are so many of these chemicals on the market though it is difficult to tell good oil from snake oil.

It was smoking lites. It is currently involved in a class action suit against Philip Morris because the low tar smokes clogged up its exhaust system.

I use Lucas in my old pickup, an '85 with 137,000 miles on it. I put in 1/2 quart everytime I change oil in it. It really helps with the rod bearing noise on start up. The motor is a 300 CI six, and it has been misused and abused since the day I got it. But hey, it's a work truck, always towing more weight than it should, etc. I use Sythetic oil in all of my good motors, never saw the reason to add anything to them.
