rebuild costs????
has anyone ever rebuilt a 350. well not really rebuilt but strip down to bear block and clean. i looking for a range for cost on stuff like gaskets and other various thing.
the truck i am pulling this out of is a 1971 custom 10 i just bought and the engine is a built 350 but it does not run the guy i bought it from thought it might be a rod about to blow by me and my father were tinkerin with it and we think it might be the vavles cause 3 or 4 of the cylinders are not burning so the sparkplugs are really wet and the rest are burning incredably rich. so we will probably have to rebuild the heads and i was contiplating just tearing down the whole engine so we know what was done to the stock block and what else was wrong with it. but i'm not sure if it is worth the time the money or the hassel to tear down the whole engine when i could just rebuild the heads.

You could spend as little as 500 or as much as you want, it all depends on what your gonna do, keeping it stock and buying cast pistons will be way cheap if your gonna reuse your rods and crank.
cam and lifters -120 summit
gaskets-40 felpro summit
timing chain- 35 true roller summit
heads- all depends on whats done to them
pistons- as low as ABOUT 15 dollars apiece for cast
block-all depends on machine shop but approx 250 to hot tank bore, cam bearings, freeze plugs.
Since its a chevy bottom line is it wont cost much to run great
i would recommend the how to rebuild your small block chevy book to help your rebuild.
thats just a estimate on the main stuff if your gonna reuse your intake, carb etc.
good luck
Thank you Roger. .
