Does this Sound like a Good Deal?

A friend of a friend runs a junk yard and just pulled a 305 with Tranny out of a wrecked 97 TransAm. Everything is in good condition and said he would sell it to me for 500$ The car is gone so I dont get the computer and everything with it just engine and tranny. Do you think its worth buying? Its gonna be for a Jeep project Im working on.

    Thanks

Are you going to stick with the TBI set up???? That isn't a bad deal if everything is in great shape

If it's going in a Jeep then a 305 is all you need and that is a great deal if they are both working. Check out Edelbrocks new carb they have just for jeeps and off roading, I hear it's good. I am not sure which one it is but it's a newer one and if you go on their site or Summit then you will probably find it and know which one I am talking about.
    Good luck!

You said '97 right? It sounds like a good deal anyway that you look at it, as long as it was a good runin' motor. Keep in mind, that tranny is computer controoled also, if it's that new. You'll either need to get a factory computer to make it work right or a seperate box to run the tranny. I know ther is a company out of AZ that specializes in tranny computers. I'll try to look in the ol' books and see if I can remember who it was.
