anyone know anything about the Street Dominator intakes? What carbs can be used with them effectively?

    On what engine?

If you're talking about the dual-plane Street Dominator, they're a good mainfold for all around street use - off idle to about 6,000 RPM. However, how well they work depends on how the engine is set up. Cam, heads, compression ratio, etc.

They make different variations of the manifold, which use both square and spread-bore carbs, but the carb you use also depends on the engine and how it's set up.

    Dominator?

Holley makes a street avenger manifold that is a dual plane. they also make the pro dominator tunnel ram manifold . I couldn't find a street dominator?I personally like the Edelbrock line of Dual-plane manifolds. Performer idle-5500, Performer R.P.M. 1500-6500 or the Performer R.P.M. Air Gap 1500-6500+ R.P.M.'s . A Holley 600 vac. sec. is my choice for a small-block chevy . They seem to have so much power right off idle!

    Street dominator

I got the street dominator off ebay and I'm wandering what kind of carb I should use. I haven't got a cam yet but when i do it'll probably be a stock 300 hp cam. I'm looking at a holley street avenger 670 or an edelbrock. I like the street avengers but they seem kinda pricey, there's also a Holley 4175 I was looking at, but I dont know about it.

You're not giving enough information for us to help. Is this a single plane or dual plane manifold? Is it set up for a square-bore or spread bore (i.e. quadrajet) carb? The Holley 4175 is a spread-bore quadrajet replacement.

The street avenger would be fine, as would the Edelbrock Performer 600.

It's a dual plane I believe it has mounts for both a squarebore and a spreadbore. It has 8 mount holes for the carb. I haven't received it yet.

Yeah, I guess it does take both carbs. The Holley 4175 you mentioned is a spreadbore replacement for a quadrajet or Thermoquad. The quadrajet-type is a decent carb, assuming it's tuned correctly. The small primaries with the large secondaries and vacuum sensitive air valve is actually a pretty good idea. The secondaries only open up as much as the engine requires. If adjusted correctly, the secondary air valve prevents the engine from bogging when you stab the throttle.

Another carb to consider is the Edelbrock Performer. They're selling the heck out of those. I talked to about a dozen guys at the T-bucket Nationals in July, and every one of them swore by it. Their 600 CFM, electric choke would work.

One of the Holley 4150 series - about 600-650 CFM would work too.

    quadrajet

I have a quadra jet now and i think it's the source of my problems. It's not that I don't like quadrajets I just don't have the money to buy a new one and people around here who know anything about them are few and far between. There's a whole list of things I want to do with this motor eventually so instead of fixing a problem and then replacing it later would be a waste. Lets see if this link works:

Can't tell from the photo. However, I believe the 300-38 is for 1957-1986 CI heads OR 1987 up AL heads. You might want to call Holley when you get the manifold.
