    327 race motor need suggestions!!!!

Riverhorse 59 or anyone out there i need help!!!
Currently I bought a race car w/ a 327 engine racing dirt track super street w/ holley 700 4 barrel and hei distributor. Have absolutely no experience with chevy motors. Considered going to a 350, until I saw the remarks from riverhorse59 on 2-19-05. I need more HP the car seems to be draging on the track. I feel as if I have no power. It was suppose to be a fairly strong engine? Have to use iron heads, Flat top pistons and I believe a flat tappet cam? I'll get more specs tomorrow on what I currently have. We can get the car to hook up, I just feel that when it's time to get on down the track the car is not giving me all it could have in power. I'm comparing my experience of power behind the wheel of the race car to a 69 Mach 1 (351W) I owned in the past. Right now I don't have the same positive feeling about the race car HP. If I could, I wouldn't mind having a 327 from _ _ _ _ to compete against these 350's. Do I build on what i've got or go 350? Also, is there anything I should check on as far as what I,ve currently got? Treat me as a third grader, I need any experience or tips available.

go the 350 or the 400 , without some work the 327 can't compete

give the specs on the camshaft, heads, chamber volume, etc......the 327 is a nice motor.....you should have lots of power to the ground.....sounds to me that the cam might not be matched to the heads or vice versa........it all has to work together proporly in order to experience the chevy power....

To beat 350's, your 327 has to rev higher, gear it 10% steeper than the competition and build it for top end. I've seen 302's that won against 350's, just not for very long!
