    351 cleveland

Please help I'm want to build a 351 cleveland for my pickup truck.Truck is for the street. I want some power but nothing crazy. I'm in my 60's so I'm not a hot rodder. I just want something that moves. I'm looking for a crankshaft ( can this engine be stroked ) Pistons for a 30 over engine and what connectting rods, Are the stock rods ok? What size cam. I want to run an automatic trans. What year and model trans? What size converter?Any help appreciated.

    carole3141; I'm building my street/strip 351 cleveland right now.
The best street performance cam I've ever run was ersons TQ 30. the TQ is for torque cam series. Has a lopey idle and is fun to drive, plenty of low and mid range super power. Ersons number is 1-775-882-6600.ext.4. Crower makes several stroker kits for your engine and thier number is 1-619-661-6477. they use J & E pistons and a custom crank not sure on what rods, and he'll probably try to sell you a cam,if you ain't got one yet. And Mr. Crower does know about 351 clevelands he built the one he has in his pantera. Depending on what cam you chose to use will decide which converter to use, ask the people you buy the cam from what converter they recomend to go with that cam. C- 4's don't stand up to a lot of horse power, I'm going with a small block C- 6 these are alot stronger. There is a big block C- 6 but it won't fit the bolt pattern of the cleveland. Hope this helps some.

c-4s can be rated for high HP.... in jegs you can buy a c-4 rated for a max of 1000HP and lifetime warranty, $1100... which is a pretty decent deal on a brand new auto tranny any ways

The C6 uses up more hp than a C4 so if you can get away with a C4 I would use it.

Ya and I kept having people tell me how they could build them up to and I kept braking them behind my mexican style 302 Boss. And that all stopped after I put in a small block C -6.
    And I broke 4 of them before I went to a C-6, and I never broke a C - 6 !!!
