where do i put oil pressure, water sensors
Im new to V8`s and building a kit car i need to know where to fit the water temp sensor and the oil pressure sensors, I have a 305ci V8 chevy engine.
I have 2 holes above the oil filter housing the lower one is pluged and upper one is open. Can you tll me what the hole just to the left of the distributor just behind the inlet manifold is for ? (looking from drivers seat).
Can any one help me please

the hole behind the dist. is supposed to be for the oil pressure sender. They say the one above the filter isn't full pressure, my block didn't have the other one though so I used the filter hole. The water temp sender is a threaded hole right next to the water neck in the front. A brass plug with a temp sender on it will thread into that sucker just like a heater hose fitting would, which is on the other side, I doubt it matters which one you use for what.
This info is all based on my big block so small blocks could be slightly different.

There is a hole right behind the dizzy for the oil pressure. Then on the PASSENGER side head or in the block is the hole for the temp sender.The tides of change are upon us. Are you ready?

thanks for your replys,
i think i need to give out a bit more info,
the engine is a 1978 chevy 305ci small block with a performer inlet manifold with no obvious hole for the temp sender. however there is an indent on the drivers side close to the thermostat housing, is it possible to drill and tap this to accomodate the sender, or is there any other option.
ref to the oil filter holes above oil filter housing still not clear what to do there.

I have two water temp sensors. One below the head on the passenger side, and one right above the thermostat in the housing. not the prettiest but its not a show car either. I had another post about it. I like how it works. I know exactly when the thermostat opens and the exact water temp as it leaves the motor.

chr What fbird is saying is that if you have no temp sensor hole on your manifold you can buy a replacement thermostat housing that has a themp sensor hole in it.
An alternative I have used several times is to plumb a sensor port into the "other hole" where the constant hot water heads to the heater. Just screw a nipple into the manifold, then a 45, then a nipple, then a Tee, then an NPT pipe to Hose connector. Continue the hose to the heater. Screw your sensor into the side TEE outlet.
I do it all in 1/2" brass pipe, looks cool.
