Use a centrifugal blower, it'll fit under the stock hood. Here's a paper I wrote on blowers, check out the manufacturers for centrifugals....

What is the casting # on your 283 F.I. heads? I can't find any 283 head of any kind that had bigger than 1.72 /1.50 valves. some did have as little as 58cc's, but most had 64 cc's. There were some that had 1.5001 exhaust valves if you want to call that bigger.
there are a couple of casting #s 3748720 and 3774690 that were on some 283 corvettes that I do not have a listing for the intake valve size ,but the exhaust valves were 1.50. They did not start calling them fuelly heads until the 461x heads that came out on the 327s, but none of these were used on the 283s.
If you give us the casting #s located under the valve cover maybe we can establish what you have.
I dont feel any head prior to a 461 would make a good performance head on a 350. JMO Gene

well the motor isnt around for me to check the #'s at the moment but all i know is that the intake valves are 1.94 and 1.50 exhuast valve and there either 54cc or 58cc lol but they bumped the compression up to 10.25:1 ................ i dont know a whole lot about motors i know some but not alot lol
