racer; There are world class stresses in a block because the pistons are trying to make the block longer everytime a combustion cycle initiates. This all happens in a rippling manner thousands of times a minute. This can work a thin section of the block. If too thin.. too bad.

Kress, I was just thinking they would be tearing up trannys way before cracking blocks. I dunno, thought these diesel blocks were more bullet proof than that. I know the Chevy diesels were cracking the heads at 60 k miles, but they were a gas motor converted to diesel basically. Well this all kinda worries me cuz I have a 7.3 in my wifes Excursion also. and it also has the chip in it. I may take them out till I have some more info on all of this. Don't wanna have to buy too many new engines for these vehicles ya know. Thanks, Mike...

Well, the update is in. The truck was fixed and under warranty. Just the oil cooler blew out some "O" rings, still don't know why,and all's well. Only thing, the STUPID tow truck driver lost the key to my truck, I had to pay to have it replaced. Oh, I'm not a big Dodge fan either. Thanks, Mike...
Getting closer on this project. What a lot of work!
