pulled rocker studs
How do i install screw in rocker studs in to my 186 camel hump heads? Do I just tap the existing hole and screw them in or do i over drill the hole and then tap. What do i do. Thanks.

This is one of those things that you only get one shot at. You can buy a jig to get the tap in straight and I would not try to do the job without one. http://www.globaltoolsupply.com/cgi-...html?E+scstore
I think I would take the disassembled heads, the guide plates, rocker studs and the valve springs that you plan to use to a good automotive machine shop.
They can:
Mill the rocker stud housings flat and tap for the screw in studs,
Check the spring pockets and enlarge to accomodate your springs (if necessary),
and, cut your valve guides for modern, positive oil seals.
If you will be running a high lift cam or ratio rockers tell the machinest. The valve guides may need a little clearance work.
All of this is very straight forward and it can all be done on a mill in a single set up.
I like to do as much as I can at home. And like most I have more time than money. But I also know that there are times whin the best way to do something is to simply come up off my billfold.Last edited by Bib_Overalls; 07-03-2005 at 08:04 PM.
