    400 block/350 heads

     



    i know you cant do this without drilling steam holes right?well what would happen if you did?i picked up a 400 last week but by the numbers its a 400 block and 350 heads.the guy i got it from said it ran fine .until one day it poped and started smoking badly and had a knock.i got it for free so if it is junk ohwell the crank still looks ok no majior marks.can someone enlighten me?
    point and shoot kinda like skiing but going uphill

    Did you check the heads for the holes?

    yes i did no holes what what would it ruin first the head, block,head gasket or what?

    i wouldnt blame smoking on the smaller heads. 350 heads are safe on a 400. ive been building engines for quite some time and if i dont have 350 heads if im building a 350. on go the 305 heads. its the 262 heads on a 400 that would be bad.
