    Lightbulb Good V6 for blazer???(other than a 4.3)

This is 1984 Blazer S10. Need less to say the stock 2.8 is WEAK!!! It is a 4x4 with a 4 speed manual tranny. Im looking for a good efficient engine. I hope I can find something with around 200plus hp that gets around 27 m/gal highway. Any suggestions?
I can think of a couple great chevy motors with these specs but as far as I know, they only work for fwd!! That GM 3.8L is sweet but only fw drive???

If your dead set against a 4.3, stuff a small block in there. I think you dreamin about the 27 mpg no matter what motor you choose, 17 will come first. Sorry if its not what you wanted to hear.

3.4L engines were the replacement for the 2.8L (and 3.1L). These will be a stright swap, even using the same motor mounts. These were used in GM F-bodies. 4.3L are another obvious bolt in swap.

The 3.8L was also available in the F-body. How much work it would take for the motor mounts is anyones guess. 3.8L engines were also available in GM G-bodies (Cutlass Supreme, Monte Carlo, Regal, Grand Prix, etc.) until 1987 and 1988. Newer engines have more power. If your Blazer is 4WD, I don't know how well the engine will bolt up to the existing transmission.

if the truck had anything BUT a 4.3, the 4.3 will not fit because it has the same trans bolt pattern as a SBC.
go to this site http://www.v8s10.org/forum/ & ask what ya can do, lots of knowledgeable folks over there & i believe Grappler knows how to do a 3.8 swap or at least i know he was talking about them. that guy knows his schitt about this stuff....joe
