Ed, those holes farther forward are the motor mount position for a six cylinder engine, the bellhousing plane would be the same for either engine, which means the shift linkage and trans mount also are the same. You don't state what your real objective is. Are you trying to get the fan and the radiator core closer together? Perhaps your truck was originally a six cylinder model and the radiator is mounted to the front of the core support. If so, mount it to the back side which would move it closer to the fan. Either way, moving the engine forward is not the solution. More fan spacer, a fan shroud, or moving the fan, perhaps with a long snout water pump if your current is a short one, would be far easier.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
