it died
sprayed a qwik shot of 2+2 in the carb and it all but shut off so i guess that means the cams to big , if so , to big for the compression or to big for the converter?GLENN
you can do it if you know how it works

it should mean you dont have a vac. leak. if you had a leak the motor would be lean and spraying the cleaner in to the carb. would have richen the motor and the rpm would have went up accordeningly. looks to me like you need stall conv.

S19243H you sure that cleaner will burn? 2+2 makes both . and what cam did you say you had? closing the chock is the same thing as spraying the cleaner. if it idles up with the choke then you are adding extra fuel to the lean motor. i still think you have a leak. be sure the cleaner will burn and spray just a little over the carb maybe you sprayed to much . if you put a conv. in and still have a leak youre still not gonna like it.Last edited by lt1s10; 09-23-2005 at 07:31 PM.

CAUTION 2+2 IS EXTREMELY FLAMABLE...i spayed a little on the driveway and PUUFF!! IT WENT UP FASTR THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD. yea its flammable but like i said i reset the timing with the light and vac gauge until i got the highest reading reset the mixture 2 half out fired up the motor let it warm checked idle 900 grabbed hold of choke started to close motor went up a little aint that what a choke does? closed it more it started to die opened it qwik to keep running when my motors idling and you punch it the tach dont seem to come down as qwik as i thought it use to i always thought thats how you know you have a vac leak when its in gear and you do it it drops real fast like i thought it use to am i right?GLENN

i think you are using to much cleaner, to much will flood it out. you want just a light mist in or over it. just a ltttle short shot. just a little. the only way to know you true vac. is with a gauge. aything below 15 is not enough. a motor with a vac leak is just like a cold motor, you keep them runing the same way. a bad leak would need more choke.Mike

I believe the XE262H is the one they advertise as the biggest on a stock converter.

with a cam that big, you better just put in a high stall torque converter. ( electric lock up ) I had a .454 lift 272 duration in the wife's dodge, ( 318 ) and the dam trans just hated it. ( 904 ) I put in a mild ( first step up from stock ) stall converter, and it was only negligably better. So, I put in the next higher stall converter available, and it was noticably better. If I were to do it again, I would definitely go with an even higher stall.
Also have a .454 lift w/ 290 dur in the firebird ( 305 ) with a 350 TH and I believe I put in a Summit converter, mid range stall. Does fine..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
