Also, you can use a drop base aircleaner now on Edelbrock carbs if you use either a banjo fitting, or there is a hardline available for it also that reroutes the fuel line
Not True! I have both the banjo and a dropfuel line. I've found NO air cleaners that will clear the electric choke housing. If anyone knows of one I'd like to know what it is. Edelbrock tech support said I needed to put a scoop on the hood. Thats not a solution for me, thats a cop out.

IMO the Holley style carbs are just superior. A Street Avenger carb 570 cfm or 670 cfm will more than likely run really well with the engine set-up above.

A more precise carb yet IMO would be a Barry Grant Road Demon 525 cfm or 625 cfm. This is very similar to the Street Avenger but uses billet metering blocks instead of the porous cast b locks that Holley uses.

    Good Luck! Kitz

Yeah that Barry Grant carb looks nice. I am thinking of running one on the 350 I plan to put in my K10 soon. I hear they are real nice! I think they are a tad bit more money (I can't remember) but even if they are I am sure it's worth it.

i tried running a edelbrock 650 1406 electric choke on my 84 chevy pickup with a 350 and could not tune it in i would recommend a holley, which i know run which is also a 650 electric choke i might need to be tuned more but i like thier performance and i find holleys to be easier to tune

I've got a 750 speed demon on the 55. In my opinion, they are the best out there. I ran a 750 holley which worked good but if parked for more than 2 weeks, it would run like crap and I got tired of beating on it with a screwdriver handle. After that, ran a 750 edelbrock which was alot more kind after long periods of unuse but killed the power. Finally went to the speed demon and woke it up. Great throttle response, the fuel mileage actually went up slightly from the edelbrock, and works just as good if left parked for a long period of time. I love it. It works great, looks great.

The Elde looks better, and they now do make it in a spread bore, although I'm not sure if it's offer'd in all cfm ranges.

From the looks of it in cataloges the Speed Demon Jr looks sweet! I know brickman said a Holley or Edelbrock but still. I would check out the Speed Demon Jr.

Mine wasn't firing up well at first either and I determined that the choke was closing too much. The manual says there should be something like .040 between the front of the choke plate and the air horn.
I made a little mark on my choke knob inside the car so I know where it should be pulled to in order to get that clearance.

I used a piece of mig wire to estimate the clearance on the choke plate.

I have not even considered the demon and I can't really tell you why. I just got done reading up on them and they are a great looking carb and are highly praised. One thing is that they are a little more spendy than the elde or the holley. I think I will do some more research on them, may be they way to go.

Couldn't you use a spacer between carb and air cleaner to clear the linkage, I did.

Where can I research about the predator firebird 45331?

The 6000 PXI model I believe has the idle circuit already installed, otherwise, on this page, you can order it, and the kit.

Man those are sweet. I have seen them before. The Barry Grant Road Demon Jr in 625 cfm is 289.95 so basicaly 290 bucks. That is fairly cheap for a BG carb. You can get a Edelbrock for 270 or so... But spend the extra 15-20 bucks on the BG and I think that will be the best.
