Need suggestions on a Bigsmall block?
Truck is not a daily driver, but would like too take it on a 2hour drive besides hamering it at the drag stripThe truck (frame)is being built to MY specs, right now.Its a street/strip build.
Ok now , I am going to need a big cubic inch small block?Or ,Is it cheaper to do a big block?

I like the big block idea too ,and I have a set of close chamber oval heads.I think I can sell these and with a little more cash buy a set of aluminum rectangal port. You think a stroked big block would be ok?468 maybe.I want something that will really rev. Thanks

use them O ports with some work and go to 4 1/4 stroke or 4 3/8 this will give you a496 or511 at a 0.060 bore and spend the money on a roller cam. that you would on the heads it will rpm but the more rpm is just hard on stuffLast edited by pat mccarthy; 12-24-2005 at 04:52 PM.

no the older big block will take the bore and the o ports will work good .just work on the Tq not on hp and if you drive it will work good i have bulit some of the 489 and 496 and they work good and there is a lot of parts out there that will get the job done and not cost a arm and a leg

I don't mind paying a little more for a better part. What do I need for a block.Theres a few different variations of the big block. What should I stay away from?I need a block asap ,I will be ready to set the placement of the engine in the frame.Last edited by BigTruckDriver; 12-25-2005 at 04:21 PM.

Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
