    here i go again

i put the cart before the horse again . i posted a thread a couple days ago asking what cam to use in a 87 chevy motor out of a suburban . i said it had a roller cam and vortec heads on it the motor is still in the truck when we started it it sounds really good and it was rebuilt about a 1000 miles ago. after talking to comp cams i found that the heads are center bolt valve cover heads not vortec they didnt come out to 96 or 97 i havent played with any thing newer than 74 so the first thing im going to do is wait for maple grove swap meet and see about a set of heads can any one tell me what casting number heads to use ? i dont want to mess with the bottom end since it was just redone and sounds good ill have the motor out by the end of the weekend and then ill know exactly what i have thanks

The heads you have on there now are swirl type heads.... I have the same things and they aren't bad but then again not good like Vortec heads. I think they are 66cc... I cannot rememeber, I asked that question at www.chevytalk.com and they told me there. Go there to that site and ask Gchemist (sp) he knows. He posts in the section on like 70 something-87 trucks or so... I have a 85 Chevy truck so look in the catagory that fits 85 K10 trucks. He is in there and knows a ton about these trucks and subs like you got.
