couldn't it also being the HEI ignition kicking to computer mode and dropping off when it sees theres no computer... sposed to have a safety fault that if it cant find the computer it'll continue running... but who knowsjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Its gonna be in the key, that's your anti-thief, and you have to by pass it to get the motor to run. You'll need to reprogram your computer.Mike

Have the computer reprogrammed its about $100 and well worth it on the LT1 ,I had mine programmed to speed density so I didnt need the MAF and it looks cleaner with just an air cleaner on the throttle body ,The MAF was just an OBDII item ,not really needed I had Vats removed ,that is the security and if your running an auto trans have the shifts stiffened upjust finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS

I had considered that also about measuring the air coming in or speed density ,I stroked the LT1 and added a little cam so I was concerned .But with the ECM tune it was set up perfect and didnt have the MAF plumbing to deal with .I dont think the GM system in a LT1 works like the old ford ,it is sequential FI just different way of measuring fuel needed. On these cars if you unplug the MAF the car will run fine you wont notice anything but the ck engine light in my research I found that the MAF was just added for OBD II compliance that most GM cars use speed density first and MAF to make minor adjustmentsjust finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS
