You can't put a ford motor in an Elcamino it's against nature.
Actually I'm sure you could cram it in there, I have seen bigblock chevies in em with no major issues. I'll bet you'll have to fab up just about all of your mounts yourself and headers too if you go that route. Will take a bunch of work but I'm sure it can be done.

If you mean a 460 Ford, it would be a major challenge. The 460 has a front sump oil pan, chebbies have a rear sump pan. Don't think you could get it to clear.

you can use a set of universal motor mounts, run a ford tranny, or a t-5 conversion with the ford bellhousing... its very possible... would be a lotta work tho.... probably fit easier than a chevy big block since the distributor is in the front, give you just a tad more firewall clearance... also you're gonna have to do a LOT of suspension work when you put that big ol heavy engine in there....

You would either have to move the firewall back or replace the crossmember, the front pump and sump 460 will land right on top of it!!!!! The front of the pan on a 460 is either 7 or 8 inches deep, the front of the chebbie pan is maybe 4" deep and on the chevelles and elkies the bbc pan clears the crossmember by about 1".....

Trucks and vans with 460s have rear sump pans so putting the 460 might work but the mounts will be the hard part,I say go for it. Jeff

They are called a rear sump, Jeff. But the pan also has to be deep enough in the front to clear the oil pump. Still a lot deeper pan in the front then a BBC by at least 2"..... A ford motor would require some surgery on the elky crossmember to fit. Heck can't even get a 460 to fit in a Crown Vic that was made for a rear sump 302 engine because of the added depth on the front of a 460 pan...... I have a 460 rear sump pan on the 460 I'm test fitting in the Ranchero, with 1" between the bottom of the pan and the front crossmember, it is still 8" from the pan rail to the crossmember.......

Anything can be made to fit anything, but the original post was asking for info on an adpater that would allow the 460 to be bolted in.

this is the shortest front sump 460 pan that I know of, with 1" clearance from the pan to the crossmember, the pan rail of the block is still 7 1/2" above the crossmember.....
