327 High Output V-8
I have a Chevy 327 small block V8 from a 65 vette sitting in my 57 chevy 3100 truck. It has the 202 heads...high output trim with solid lifters and dual point ignition. also has a holley 650 CFM carb and edlebrock performer intake. I believe it still has the stock cam, but dont know for sure seeing as how i havent taken it apart. How much horsepower should I assume the motor has, and how much can i tweak out of it with minor upgrades?

The smallest (2bbl) 327 was about 210 hp the others were around 275, 300 or so and I think one even had 350HP. But that would be a tweeked already setup.

I'd guess at somewhere around 300/325 hp. If the heads haven't been gone through lately the valve seats need to be hardened or it will cause you grief further down the road.Ken Thomas

The 365 horse version had 11:1 compression, 2.02 "double hump" heads, the famous .030-.030 solid lifter cam, a 180 degree aluminum high rise manifold, and about a 600 Holley.
The same engine with the fuel injection unit was 375 horsies. :-)
Thank you Roger. .
