    HO or standard 305 ID

     



    How do I tell if I have the 305 HO motor or the 305 standard motor.. the guy I bought my car from said he had took the engine out of a mid 80's monte carlo the heads have the bolts in the center of the covers (not around the edges) if that matters, otherwise just tell me where ot look for the numbers and I will tell u

    Pull either valve cover and post the casting number found on the head.

    '87-'94 Carb or EFI, 1-piece rear main seal, roller lifters, center bolt valve covers, 1.84"/1.50" valves, standard ports, 58 cc chambers.

    Probably nothing to write home about.

    ok so actually an 87-94 305

    hopefully I have the right plugs .. I take it this is NOT the H.O. motor

    nope just a standard 305, still a good reliable motor
    just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

    To double check, apply a magnet to the intake manifold. LG4's were iron, L69 HO's were factory aluminum. Also look for the L69 HO casting number 10066015 on the manifold and a double snorkel air cleaner housing.

    LG4's and LO3's had a manifold casting number of 14057053.

    there is no air cleaner at all no carb nothing lol

    Ill check the aluminum deal as well as the item numbers tommorow
