Need carb. advice.
Hey guys i found this holley carb. in the trunk of my chevelle when i was cleaning it out, and i've decided to rebuild it and put it on the engine. This is what i know about it:
List # CFM Stock Jetting Power Valve Type
80457 600 (F)69,(R)Plate 134-39 6.5 4160
I was wondering is there anything i could do to the carb. to help it perform better?

it needs some work they are ok. but what do you want to do with it? the base plate looks bad? will it move or is it lockup? if you want to put some time in it and rebuild kit it will work ok but . this is hard to say what the inside looks like?

The baseplate moves freely, and i was just wondering if there was anything i could switch out on it to perform better.

i did some work to them mill the are horn off and made them dual feed. but no there is not to much you can do with them you can get a spring kit for it and pump cams but the the main body there is not very many things you can do . but the holley hopup stuff will work on this carb like needle seats powervalves jets cams

well you could but why?this is the way i see it if you have to do to many thing to the carb you have the wrong one? not to sound like a smart a$$ but how much do you want to make the carb work? i spent alot of time on two of them i had on my 50 chevy they work good then i took them off and put two afbs on and it worked just as good if not better

hey pat thanks for all the advice, and you do have a point there. So just rebuilt it and put it on? Also what about that power valve protection kit, that saves the carb. form backfires?

Should i keep it electric choke or convert it to manual?
-

if it works use the electric you may want to keep the choke for cold days if you have any
