Fix or replace baseplate?
Hey guys i started disassembling my holly 600 cfm carb. so i could rebuild it, and i noticed the baseplate looks like crap. Also I accidently removed one of the butterfly disc and the screw broke one of the screws in the little hole. Can i fix this problem or should i just replace the whole baseplate?

How good are you with a file? That will clean the base plate up and get it nice and flat. To get the screw out, go from the side opposite the head. They crimp the ends of the screws a little so they can't back out. It will be easier to keep it going in the same direction it went in.

While you have the shaft out, re-bush it with nylon.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

The head of the screw broke off in the shaft.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
