    road heads...

i just bought a 400 bored .30 over to a 406. i think 270/480 lunati cam. it runs good, but a friend told me trick flow makes 49cc heads that would really boost my compression. will i still be able to run pump gas? it's just got stock vortech heads, from a newer panel truck on it now, and they're pretty beat.
if i have to bite the bullet and pony up 1300$ anyway why not get the most bang for my buck? i just want to make sure i don't shoot myself in the foot, it's still a daily driver. i want to go as fast as i can on the weekends, but not pay 7.50$ a gallon all week. any advice would be helpful.

O.K., listen up for Go-Fast 101. This class is free and the instructor is friendly as long as you listen up. You may argue if you have a legitimate argument, but if you are full of it, the instructor will slap you down. Wanna play, THEN LISTEN UP........

More compression may make you go faster or it may not, depending on the rest of your combination. (combination means the parts that you have chosen to run together.) COMBINATION.....COMBINATION......COMBINATION.
You can't just throw a bunch of parts together and expect them to work well together without knowing what you're doing. You need a combination.

First, you need to know what you have as far as static compression ratio. Now, there are any number of websites with calculators that will help you to determine the static compression ratio of your motor, but if you want me to help you learn how to put a dynamite combination of parts together, you're gonna have to learn to do it yourself.

Your first assignment is to go to this website and read how to figure your own static compression ratio and then come back on this thread and tell me that you want to know how to continue to choose the correct parts to make a dynamite combination and amaze your friends with your newfound knowledge.

Note to board: Some of you who have known me for a while may note that it is Friday night and the ol' techinspector is being a little abrupt and probably has had a couple of suds......
