Not sure which engine family or year Lincoln engine you are looking at - but even the lack of standard repair parts might make it a boat anchor - there was a 430" engine that had a strange angle block/heads - and it goes on. But, there are some interesting Lincolns as well.

There are too many good engines available - tri power Olds, Buick nail heads, Ford 385's and FE's, 472 and 500" Caddies just to name a few that parts can be found fairly easily and speed part mfrs support to a point.
