***Changing from mechanical to electric gas gauge***
So I'm just about ready to start reassembeling the fuel system inmy '35 ford. I've just purchased an original electric gas gauge for the car but I'm running into trouble trying to figure out how to install it properly. The original gauge in my car has a fuel line that goes into the dash (wich i think is kinda sketchy). When I dropped the gas tank out, I also removed all of the fuel lines and noticed that there were to fuel lines coming out of the sump in the tank-----> One goes to the fuel pump and the other goes to the back of the fuel gauge. Now that I have my electric gauge, I don't know how to install it. I know that I have run wires to the back of the gauge. I also have to do something about the sump in the gas tank. I'm assuming that I have to change the original sump out (wich probably has some kind of float sensor in it) and replace it with one that has an electric sensor in it. The wires for the gauge probably come from this sensor, if there is one, but I don't really know. Anyways...any advice would help and if anyone has a lead on where to find a new sump that has a sensor for the fuel gauge please let me know. ***I'm also doing a 12v conversion on the car and i would prefer to find a new sump for the tank, but a vintage part would work and I would love to get more info on it*** Thanks a bunch!
