What was I thinking
Just Ordered most of the rebuild parts for my 200 I6 turbo engine. got them from www.classicinlines.com . .030 over speed pro flat tops, plasma moly rings, clevite 77 bearings, corteco gasket kit, JP performance dual roller timing chain, and Yella Terra Full Roller rockers. $1,133.17 shipped. I also recently bought and recived a used '78 Ford 250 I6, D7 casting head, nice head, smooth ports, big intake log, and the carb base mount is lower than on my '67 head, so I'll have more hood clearence, but also, $60 bucks or so has to go into new valves for that. I also gotta get the cam from Isky, and the springs/ retainers to match the cam, prolly going to cost about $300 for that stuff. then, no matter if I go EFI or Carb, it's going to cost right around 1k, for that stuff. This game is getting expensive, But I can arleady taste the exhaust fumes. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

sounds good to me matt.... and if it makes you feel any better.... you've really not spent that much money compared to what some people do to build an engine of course it doesn't matter what you spend if you dont put it together right.... luckily i have faith in you that you'll take your time and assemble everything just how its supposed to gojust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Almost got screwed out of $900. when my mom went to send out the money order today, the postmaster ( we have a very small post office ) wrote 1 of them ( 1$k cap on money orders ) for $100 rather than $1,000. when he noticed it counting the money later on tonight, he called us and told us to go down to have it fixed, he just wrote another Money order for $900, and added it into the package. course, then his assistant was asking me about my cars, we have a rural route mail box, and everybody that works for the post office, knows I have the cars because they see me working on them, but she takes special interest in old cars, she has a '55 Thunderbird herself. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

just as an update, last friday, I brought my cyl head into the shop, started taking it apart, and found 2 huge cracks in the # 3 and 4 cyl chambers, must have overheated, the valves were brown, umbrella seals were melted and the cracks ran right into the exhaust seats. I immediatly called DVAP, where I bought the head, talked to the same guy that sold me the head, told him it was cracked, he looked up my information, and said he was going to bump me up to the top of his list, and have another retrived/ sent out. should be here by the end of the week.
I keep the old head, all it has good is a 1.5 rocker shaft, a water neck that I cannot use ( outlet too big ) and 4 valves that are servicable, all others were massivly bent, these have good margins, nice and str8, I can put them on the valve refacer and they should clean up good, I'll sandblast them firstLast edited by Matt167; 01-29-2007 at 05:38 PM.

what junkyard do you use? Memory Lane and DVAP are the 2 most well known and widely used classic car junkyards in the US. both are closer to you than they are Me. as DVAP is in Mesa, AZ and Memory lane is in Cali. I'm gonna call tomorrow to make shure they found/ sent 1 out. at least I have a junk head with 10 good seats that I can practice cutting with the Neway machine, I'v only surfaced valves b4, never surfaced the seats. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
