what color engine?
I'm getting a black Alloy Valve cover for my 200 I6 ( needed for the extra clearence of the Roller Rockers ), they are textured with polished fins. I was originally going to paint the engine gloss black, but that seems too plain now. I know I'm limated to using rattle can colors ( EPA regulations, we don't have a fume hood, or a spray booth in the auto shop ). Yellow, Red??? want to stay away from stock Ford Blue. car will remain white, I'll most likely paint the engine compartment black whail I got the engine out.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Red has my vote. I thought maybe a nice gray, but you aren't looking for plain.

originally, I was going to use a factory " Powered By Ford " Valve cover, found on some 1970's 200's and 250's, and paint the engine black and valve cover black, but paint the " Powered By Ford " letters white first, then mask them and paint the cover black, but being that the roller rockers won't clear a stock cover, so even tho, that would look real nice, and stand out, I cannot use it. I was thinking, ither red or yellow.
here is what a yellow engine looks like, this is a 200 I6, but with a special head, same valve cover as what I'm getting. it Was the SEMA display engine for Ford 6 performance parts in 2005You don't know what you've got til it's gone

If you really want to use the stock cover, why not mill out a shim and get the clearance you need?

How about red with yellow flames or yellow with red flames, I never saw a engine done that way, a six would be a easy way to view a custom paint job.Objects in the mirror are losing

Hotrod yellow or Daytona yellow? Dupli Color sells both, hotrod yellow is a bit deeper of a yellow in color, than the above pic.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

buy a can of each try a test spray panel or use the one that covers the best you could paint it white first the yellow will cover better

that's what I'll do. have to go to napa and get the paint, I'll get the white primer also.You don't know what you've got til it's gone
