aluminum all the way, lighter and better quench, plus they dissapate heat better

I'll get the argument started by saying that if you are already running camel humps(the ones with 2.02 valves) you won't see a big enough improvement to justify half that money. (Your my hi-rpm gasser hero ,,,you were using camel hump 2.02's weren't you)

Since I'm assuming that you'll be racing with it, if for no other reason than weight savings, I'd say run aluminum. Also, as stated before, becuase of the thermo-dynamics of aluminum vs. iron, they disipate more heat and allow you to run higher compression ratios before detonation becomes a problem. They are obviously more expensive and there's a reason for that....

That being said, I'll be running cast irons on the flaming chicken because I personally couldn't justify spending that much extra money to get the aluminum Edelbrocks. However, if I find that the motor has detonation issues on premium pump gas....well, I'll have little choice but to make the switch.

    Good luck,

Aluminum, just get the right head gasket, for cast/ aluminum diffrences, and don't use sealer at all.

wish there was a aluminum head for the 200/250 Ford I6 that I could afford, but there's not, will be $1,500 and it's in testing stages right now, not ready for production yet.

A good set of aluminum heads will greatly improve the flow charachteristics, as well as let you run about 1 point higher on compression.... Just clean those 291's up really pretty and set them on the shelf......

there is no differents in air flow between aluminum and iron.dart iron eagles are ten time better then chevy hump heads.i have a 55 gallon drum of hump heads behide the shop.the aluminum heads dissapates heat better which well allow you to run a little more compression.the combustion chambers from the aluminum and the iron are the same to.the good thing about aluminum heads they can be welded easy.if you're looking for a good street head.the vortec fast burn chevy heads are very good.reg port for up to 350ci, large port up 400ci.i think you can get the reg port from jegs for around 250each.i build race engine for a living and very good dyno number on mild street engine with these heads.the iron eagle are very goo to with porting and good cam selection on 10to1 400ci you can 500+hp.

I have already told him about the cost of building 40+ year old castings.
I just don't get why people don't just buy new heads.
Why put all that money in those old castings that don't flow as well as the new ones do.
