    destroked 400 is running backwards

     



    if anyone can shed some light on my dieseling (motor running backwards) i am willing to listen. i have had the timing checked distributor too carb tuned and it still does it 7 out of ten times i shut it off. i don't know where to go from here!

    If it is a recent build,what compression,what cam specs,was cam installed straight up,what timing,what fuel octane you got? There are guys on here that can give you some help but these things will need to know.
    If not a recent build then southerner may have the ticket.

    Lower the idle speed, or use an idle solenoid that is energized when the engine is running, and off when the ignition is turned off. If the throttle blades aren't going completely shut when you are at idle, it can cause the engine to diesel. There is also the old trick of enlarging the air bleed holes in the throttle plates, this will increase the air flow at idle, and allow the idle screw to be adjusted so that the throttle blades are completely closed.....

    If the cam duration is over 300 degrees @.050 . ....you need to spin the motor first and then turn on the ignition,. ....running backward will kill that thing in short order!!!!!
    Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)
