whats the difference between a normal factory 350 head and a vortec head, i have 186 fuelie head and i know some people put vortec heads on thier rigs i was just wondering if they would be better than my fuelies, i amd pretty much building a ground pounder so i am trying to make as powerful of an engine as possible

If you are wanting to build a "ground pounder" I would not use either cylinder head.
I would look at good aftermarket heads AFR,Dart,Brodix, etc.

I agree with you on that one Eric. Both the 186's and the Vortec heads will support about 400HP, but not much more unless you do a lot of work to them. (screw in studs, bigger springs, port work, etc.) You can buy vortec heads for $750 with all that done except for the port work but they still are just street heads. Why not spend a couple hundred $ more and get some Dart iron eagles that will support 500HP right out of the box, or even a $100 more and buy some aluminum heads.
