    my bbc 454's temp alright????

when I am idling or driving less then 5 mph( behind people at shows) my temp get to 225, driving it is fine, runs a temp 190. Is 225 too high? if it is alright; I am curious what is the highest save temp a engine can get to & not damage the motor??

225 is high, but not horrible. The second fan in my Vette is programmed at the factory to come in at 225.

What kind of fan and thermostat do you have? Do you have a radiator shroud?

Also, some Redline Water Wetter might help. It contains a surfactant that keeps the coolant from beading off of the inside of the radiator core.

As long as it's not losing water it's okay. 250 won't hurt the engine, but there's no margin for error when it's that hot.

slow speed is hard to keep a big block cool that slow at car shows .i would like to see the big blocks i have had run it 160 but they run around 210-220 on very hot days and had one that would get to 240 but that was a 14.8 548 cid it just ran hot but i never hurt it was built loose for very hard running .i always look at the oil psi if that was not dropping i would cool it down

I'm confused. You say you're running a puller fan, but you have no room for a puller fan.

You should be safe at 225 but that's getting up there. Do you have vacuum advance? That might help.
